Some companies' loss control departments view themselves as sales control, but not Acuity! We are always looking for ways to write business by better understanding accounts through loss control assessments.

Importantly, we conduct assessments, not just inspections. Our loss control surveys do not involve checklists. We take the time to have real conversations with businesses, help them eliminate or minimize the potential for loss, and recognize features that make certain businesses above average.

Our loss control works closely with underwriting to help our agents write and service accounts. Our first call in setting up an appointment is to the agent with an invitation to accompany the loss control representative on the visit. After accounts are written, our service doesn’t stop! We service accounts regardless of size or premium and love getting requests and questions from accounts because we are here to make a difference.

As an underwriting company, Acuity visits and services a higher percentage of accounts than other carriers our size, but that produces a healthier result for everyone. We believe everyone has a vested interest in eliminating or minimizing the potential for future losses.

Of course, we assist in helping insureds with OSHA and other areas of standards and compliance, but our primary emphasis is building a partnership that will improve safety and reduce losses. That benefits you, our mutual customers and their employees, and Acuity.
