Conquer Cancer: Kate Brunner Quinn from Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, accepts a check for more than $82,000 from Acuity.
Sharon S. Richardson: Sara Weber, Charmaine Conrad, Tracy Cinealis, and Julie Steinert from Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice accept a check for nearly $60,000 from Acuity.
Fresh Meals on Wheels: Lindsey Thomson and Allison Thompson from Fresh Meals on Wheels accept a check for nearly $52,000 from Acuity.
Salvation Army: Major Rochelle McClintock, Carrye Jo Cony, and Lieutenant Heather Gladney from the Salvation Army accept a check for over $44,000 from Acuity.
At a December 2024 Town Hall meeting, Acuity employees determined the distribution of $500,000 among six different charitable organizations. Those organizations included Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation; Fresh Meals on Wheels; Mental Health America (MHA); Safe Harbor; The Salvation Army; and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Based on employee votes, MHA Lakeshore received the largest allocation of over $170,000. The other five groups each received donations ranging from nearly $45,000 to more than $90,000.
“MHA has been a lifeline to me and my family in so many ways. They've helped us with our grief, they've helped us better understand mental illness, and they’ve helped us see that mental illness is no different than any other illness,” said MHA Lakeshore Board Member Mark Kesler, who lost a son to suicide.
“Suicide is preventable, and with MHA leading the way through resources and education to end the stigma around mental health, one day we will be successful. With Acuity’s generous support we’re on our way. Acuity’s contributions are helping MHA provide hope, change lives, and helping shine a light in the darkest of moments—showing people that it’s ok to not be ok,” Kesler said.
Each employee was also invited to choose any qualifying charity to receive a $100 donation from Acuity, equaling an additional contribution of nearly $180,000.
This is the 12th consecutive year that Acuity employees have directed a special year-end contribution, which adds to the company’s longstanding tradition of philanthropy.
The holiday season also highlighted efforts from Acuity’s staff that made a difference in the local community. For instance, the Acuity gift drive collected hundreds of items for Sheboygan County Health and Human Services (HHS), representing the largest donation of much-needed items the organization received in 2024.
“Acuity represents the largest donation we receive every year. Their donation puts many smiles on many faces, which brings tears of joy and happiness,” said Pat Prigge, Social Worker and Volunteer Coordinator at HHS.
